#DYK @NASAEarth scientists have essentially “weighed” Earth’s ice by measuring its gravitational pull on a pair of satellites called GRACE? 🛰️🛰️
The satellites make it possible to estimate ice loss and its contribution to sea level rise. #SeeingTheSeas

Last month, the Sentinel-6 Michael Freilich satellite launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base in central CA. Now, NASA’s Eyes on the Earth visualization app lets you track the spacecraft as it begins its mission to measure sea level height. #SeeingTheSeas
I am seeing the Statue of David by Michaelangelo?
There's probably value here.

@CopernicusEU #marine Global model🌊sea level forecast error diminishes when more altimeter data is assimilated. In 2020, 6 altimetry satellites are assimilated among with #sentinel3. #sentinel6 M. Freilich aims to reduce the forecast error.
🛰️Sentinel-6 M. Freilich will serve as a reference for the other #marine altimetry missions: It will provide high-precision #satellite #data. Sentinel-3 ABCD will be referenced & inter-calibrated thanks to Sentinel-6 M. Freilich. #SeeingTheSeas #sentinel6
Love this shot! It's a composite of the landing #Falcon9 rocket booster in the foreground, plus the earlier launch (7 minutes earlier) of #Sentinel6MichaelFreilich from an adjacent pad at SLC4 on Vandenberg Air Force Base: credit @SpaceX #SeeingTheSeas

I thought to add to my thread the start of another thread tweeted by another #sentinerd that starts with a video made by @i_ameztoy to celebrate the launch of the @CopernicusEU #Sentinel6

We just celebrated the successful launch of #Sentinel6 (last red tick in this launch schedule!), but the @ESA_EO @eumetsat and @CopernicusEU #Sentinerds have 12 more launches to look forward to in the next 10 years! Go Sentinel 1C/D 2C/D 3C/D 4A/B 5A/B/C and 6B!
Reminiscing over Saturday's @SpaceX @30thSpaceWing launch of #Sentinel6MichaelFreilich by finally collecting the photos together. There's something about this shot that I love. And it wasn't taken with my DSLR, this was via my Galaxy S20 -- not too shabby! #SeeingTheSeas
"It is a great pleasure for me to say that #Sentinel6 Michael Freilich is currently on its way to its target orbit following this successful launch." - Commissioner @ThierryBreton
We are grateful for a successful launch 🥳🥳
