We're proud of our longstanding partnership with 🇨🇭! Today @Winnie_Byanyima met with Patricia Danzi DG @SwissDevCoop on the next #GlobalAIDSStrategy & how the Joint Programme will work to end inequalities & close gaps in rights, services & outcomes to deliver on SDG3 & end AIDS.
2⃣ Organise the int'l financial architecture so that it enables countries to address the health and social needs of their people.
"Before the #COVID19 crisis, 4 out of 5 low-income countries were already spending more on debt repayments than on health," says @Winnie_Byanyima.
"Without supporting initiatives such as #CTAP or #TRIPSwaiver, we risk repeating the painful lessons from the early AIDS response when ppl in rich countries had access to HIV treatment while millions of ppl in poor countries died," says @Winnie_Byanyima during @UNCTAD event.
"40 million #COVID19 vaccine doses have been administered in 49 higher income countries. Just 50 doses have been rolled out in the lowest income countries. That is inequality," says @Winnie_Byanyima during an @UNCTAD panel discussion on systemic issues in the global economy.
Tomorrow @MattHancock will speak @ChathamHouse about his vision for an effective global health response & his plans to ensure preparedness for future threats.
@Winnie_Byanyima will join the discussion & ask Min. Hancock about the role of the G7 in global health.
