Just a reminder to everyone that the Senate still has not passed an organizing resolution. The GOP is still in charge of Senate committees. Nothing like this has happened since 1881.

NEW: "Republicans demand audit of Kelli Ward's narrow win for Arizona GOP chair." (via @yvonnewingett and @ronaldjhansen)
stop the steal???
On @chrislhayes’ show, @AOC says “white supremacist sympathizers” are becoming power centers in the GOP.
“It increasingly seems, unfortunately, that in the House Republican caucus, Kevin McCarthy answers to these QAnon members of Congress. Not the other way around.”
Replying to @maggieNYT: Where the incentives are, part 100

NEW: Marjorie Taylor Greene indicated support for executing prominent Democrats in Facebook comments, videos, and likes in 2018 and 2019
Rep. @JimmyGomezCA says he will soon introduce a resolution to expel @mtgreenee from Congress, citing this reporting from CNN.
The NRA says it's suing in federal court to overturn Maryland's handgun qualification license law as unconstitutional.
If this elevates, the final destination is a 6-3 conservative Supreme Court that is highly sympathetic to their cause.
.@SpeakerPelosi, in a letter to Democrats, says House committee chairs are "working on coronavirus relief legislation as a basis for reconciliation, should that step be needed."
Setting the gears in motion to use the budget maneuver that can bypass the Senate's 60-vote rule.
"On climate, the age of incrementalism is over. We have to be bold," @EdMarkey says on @MeetThePress Daily.
He calls Biden's executive actions a first step, says Democrats can pass some measures via reconciliation and should abolish the filibuster if Republicans don't play ball.
White House @PressSec gets another question on impeachment and gives the same answer: Biden won't get involved, he'll defer to Congress on process and merit, won't say if Trump should be convicted; she says his focus is on other issues like Covid-19 and economic relief.

DHS issues National Terrorism Advisory System Bulletin due to a 'heightened threat environment' across the United States, which DHS believes will persist in the weeks following the successful Presidential Inauguration
DHS BULLETIN: "Information suggests that some ideologically-motivated violent extremists with objections to the exercise of [govt authority and transition], as well as other perceived grievances fueled by false narratives, could continue to mobilize to incite or commit violence."
How's this for normalcy:
Sen. Dan Sullivan is giving an impassioned speech on the Senate floor taking issue with the Biden administration's use the of the phrase "strategic patience" to describe its dealings with China, saying it sends the wrong message.
Wherein @MittRomney argues that politicians who stoked conspiracy theories about widespread voter fraud lack standing to talk about "unity." He calls on Republicans to go on Fox News to denounce the "big lie" and say that Donald Trump lost fair and square.
Replying to @joshgerstein: JUST IN: Biden administration has replaced the Jeff Sessions ally overseeing the nation's immigration courts, James McHen…
Looks like Senate Republicans have chosen to pick a fight against Xavier Becerra for HHS. McConnell went at him earlier this week. Now Thune calls him "radically pro-abortion" and assails his legal support for the ACA contraception mandate.
JUST IN: Biden administration has replaced the Jeff Sessions ally overseeing the nation's immigration courts, James McHenry. Immigration advocates complained after he appeared on memo listing leaders staying on into new administration. Story w/@sabrod123
.@SenSchumer just now: "We must not repeat the mistakes of 2008 and 2009, when Congress was too timid and constrained in its response to the global financial crisis."
"Congress must pursue a bold response to the prevailing crisis of our time."
MANCHIN: "What I saw with my own eyes ... if that's not an impeachable offense then what would be an impeachable offense? Sedition was exactly why our Founding Fathers came out, they were born out of the war, they didn't want people who were trying to take down our government."

It’s striking how much of Biden’s climate executive actions reflect major elements of the Green New Deal — tackling climate change while addressing economic/racial injustice — without actually *being the Green New Deal. Some political sleight of hand.
An interesting window into Democratic Party dynamics. Biden positioned himself against the left of the party on the Green New Deal and won the primary doing it. But as many climate activists recognized all along, much of that was messaging and there was overlap on policy goals.
Fighting chance if the filibuster is nuked, zero chance if it’s preserved
