Today, on #InternationalWomensDay I was proud to introduce the GOALS Act, legislation to ensure the World Cup-winning @USWNT are paid fair and equitable wages compared to the U.S. Men’s team.

President Biden called for "equal pay" during his campaign and said he'd withhold federal funding for the 2026 men's World Cup. Now it's a bill on the floor of the House, and "fair and equitable" is an even higher standard.

The league is introducing a $22k minimum salary for the 2021 season. Average compensation — including housing and other allowances — for players on the minimum will be $26k, while the average compensation league-wide will be $40k. The highest player compensation is $77k. #CanPL

Those numbers translate to US$17,365.70; US$20,523.10; $31,574.00; and $60,779.95, respectively.

That was good television, @SebiSalazarFUT, @herculezg and @JulieFoudy.

Credit as well to producer @elbetOe.

Other than that, the bigger rot isn't in one now-former participant in the Athlete Council. As I've said before, it's in U.S. Soccer's membership, and many of the people in question are in grassroots clubs.

Feel free to blast Nick Lima and Matt Miazga too.

But I'll call Cameron a former USMNT player in describing him, not a current USMNT player.

Since we are still giving the matter oxygen, Geoff Cameron hasn't played for the USMNT in three and a half years, and at age 35 I'll be surprised if he ever does again.

Feel free to blast him for supporting a bigot, but I'm not going to claim he's a current MNT player.

The health department ignored "numerous red flags" in the Philly Fighting COVID partnership, the inspector general wrote in a report released today.

These actions, the report states, placed the city “at great risk.”

Joanna Lohman has a new book out about raising youth soccer players and we’ll have a full review later on @AllForXI but I wanted to point out this insane story she tells on p195 about Tom Durkin when he was head coach of the Boston Breakers. Cw: violence

Replying to @itsmeglinehan: I think @thrace and I always had intensely bad vibes about this man but this exceeds anything I could have imagined. #NW

A legend on the pitch.

Now, a legend in the booth.

San Jose's own @daniellevslaton continues to shine as a member of the club's broadcast team.

I can't speak highly enough of the broadcast work of @daniellevslaton. Men's, women's, club, international...she does it all. And she's someone who teaches me something tangible each time she calls a game.

Andi Sullivan has always successfully done the loud things well, quietly, but perhaps it’s now time to execute with full voice. The heartbeat of the Spirit deserves to be heard.

Juventus-Porto gets top billing from me this week, and not just because I get to lead my piece with a Weston McKennie photo.

But first, an English soccer history lesson. Portsmouth plays Sunderland tomorrow in a game that should matter beyond League One:

Getting set for the umpteenth media Zoom of the day, a check-in with the US U-23 MNT from Guadalajara. #CMOQ teams must submit their final 20-player rosters 10 days before their first match in the tournament; I'm told Concacaf will announce all of those on Thursday.
